Lamb Cafe au Lait
450g lamb schnitzels
1 medium onion
6 juniper berries, crushed
1/2 cup strong black coffee
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
grated orange rind
salt and freshly ground pepper
Brown the lamb quickly on both sides in a little hot oil. Remove
and keep warm. Saute the finely chopped onion until tender then
add the juniper berries, coffee, sugar, orange juice and rind and
stir well to combine. Return the lamb to the pan and simmer gently
until tender. Stir in a tablespoon or two of light sour cream and
season to taste. Serve with noodles or rice and fresh vegetables.
