Melbourne is well served by its markets. The recently formed Markets of Melbourne, comprising the Prahran, Queen Victoria and South Melbourne markets are home to 965 small businesses, provide more than 4500 jobs and have direct connection with more than 250 local producers. I live a hundred metres from the South Melbourne Market. I shop for produce there about three times a week. In this section I feature my seasonal purchases, how I've used them and maybe a few facts about individual ingredients. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, remember our seasons are opposites.
